Library & IT
The Whittaker Library contains one of the most comprehensive collections of performance materials for music, dance and drama in the UK and internationally. All staff and students are members and we are open to the public for reference purposes. Extra-mural membership on payment of an annual fee is available to graduates of the Royal Conservatoire. NB All external visitors are politely requested to ask reception staff for a visitor's pass before proceeding to the Library.
Opening hours
The library opening hours are:
Term time
Mon to Thurs - 9am to 8.30pm
Friday - 9am to 5pm
Saturday - 10am to 4pm
Vacation
Mon to Fri - 9am to 5pm
Opening times do occasionally vary and if you are planning to make a journey to visit us it
is advisable to call first.
The Library is a member of the Scottish Confederation of University and Research Libraries (SCURL) and the Scottish Library and Information Council (SLIC) and we collaborate in a number of national projects.
Access to electronic resources
The IT Department provides access to a growing number of Electronic Resources for students via student IT facilities, including 48 open access PC's in the Opera school area. We also have 14 PC's in the Library. Please note IT facilities are not available to the public.
