Funded Projects and Partnerships
The Exchange, through the assistance of the Scottish Funding Council’s Innovation Vouchers has recently undertaken a research relationship with theatre company Solar Bear Ltd. The research helped Solar Bear to develop its evaluation and strategic planning of its Therapeutic Theatre, helping the project gain recognition for the benefits it offers potential participants.
Building on this work, The Royal Conservatoire is delighted to work in partnership with Solar Bear’s Deaf Youth Theatre (DYT) launching a pilot actor training programme designed to offer conservatoire- style training for talented young actors and to begin to develop formal routes into training and into the profession
‘Solar Bear is delighted and proud to be working with our partners at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to establish formal pathways into the profession for young deaf actors. Together, we are confident that our pilot training programme, launching in March 2012, will result in new and ground-breaking opportunities for a new generation of deaf actors and audiences alike. Our shared vision will reflect and celebrate Scotland’s cultural diversity by ensuring that talented young deaf people have access to quality training opportunities at the highest level.’ Gerry Ramage, Artistic Director, Solar Bear
