Short Courses Co-ordinator
Maternity Cover (9 months Fixed Term)

The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland seeks to appoint a Maternity Cover Coordinator
for its dynamic and fast-growing Short Course programme.
The Short Courses Coordinator is a pivotal role in the team and takes responsibility
for the customer care, promotion and marketing, health and safety and budget administration of the
Conservatoire’s access, transition into training, professional development and widening
participation strands in dance, drama, music, production and screen.
You will be responsible for the management of the Short Courses programme, ensuring
an efficient, supportive and welcoming service to prospective applicants, students, families,
teachers as well as the large team of lecturers and tutors who deliver our short courses.
You will co-ordinate a small team who provide an authoritative and accurate source
of advice to a range of customers regarding the relevant courses and classes, projects, summer
schools and learning events. You will also manage operational and quality management systems to
enhance service provision, particularly in the area of the student experience.
You should have previous experience of working within a student or training setting,
with highly developed organisational and communication skills. The ability to work to deadlines and
under pressure will be essential, as will the ability to multi-task.
You should have previous experience of developing and implementing and reviewing
systems and processes in relation to project management and marketing particularly.

Programme Support Administrator
£18,369 - £21,234
You will be responsible for providing administrative support and secretarial assistance to the Keyboard and Collaborative Piano and Scottish Music departments within the School of Music, working closely with each Head of Department. You will be required to administer subject specific aspects of programme delivery and to provide administrative assistance to academic staff in support of programme delivery.
You should be computer literate with excellent skills in Microsoft Office and Excel.
Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and handle heavy workloads under
pressure is essential, combined with the ability to work as part of a team with a flexible
approach. You should be able to demonstrate your ability to interact with students and staff at all
levels, and the ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision. A knowledge
of arts administration or music is desirable as is experience of working in an administrative
function in a Higher Education environment.

Head of Strings
Full time, permanent
Salary Scale: £45,789- £50,034 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Strings to join
our ever developing Music Management team within the Royal Conservatoire of
Scotland. Working closely with the Dean and Heads of Department, you will ensure the
effective and efficient coordination and management of the Strings Department.
We are introducing a new curriculum in 2012/13. Our new curriculum
will offer our emerging artists greater choice within their own specialism, creating space for
greater co-creation with students from different disciplines. It is relevant to the contemporary
international scene and meets the need now felt by professional companies in every discipline
around the world for confident, reflective, adaptable artists. In academic terms, the new
curriculum creates the space for disciplinary excellence, choice and trans-disciplinary
collaboration.
Our facilities are amongst the best in Europe and are being

performances and our wide range of partnerships with professional companies across the UK gives our
students wonderful opportunities to perform and work alongside the best.
You will be an accomplished musician with an international profile
and have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject, together with teaching experience in a
Conservatoire (or possibly another HE) context, and some experience of programme design,
coordination and management. It would be preferable for you to have specialism in upper strings
teaching and performance. A higher education teaching qualification is also desirable.
