Repetiteurship
As a student on the MMus Repetiteurship programme you will work and study
as part of the internationally reputable Alexander Gibson Opera School. In your
studies you will work regularly with resident staff: Timothy Dean, Head of Opera; Duncan
Williams, Head of Music Preparation and Julia Lynch all of whom have considerable professional
experience both nationally and internationally. You will also have the opportunity to work
with Derek Clark (Head of Music, Scottish Opera) and other Scottish Opera Music Staff and to see
and hear them in action.
The programme offers a wide range of appropriate experience and opportunity,
ranging from playing for classes, opera scenes, full production rehearsals, playing as part of the
orchestra, or as continuo player, in performances and, where appropriate, conducting.
Previous students who have studied this discipline at the Royal Conservatoire of
Scotland have gone on to study and work at the highest level including at the National Opera
Studio, the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, Scottish Opera and other
Opera Houses in Europe.
