Brass
Royal Conservatoire Brass is the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's prestige brass ensemble, comprising senior brass and percussion students. The musicians have already built up considerable professional experience both as soloists and as orchestral players, working regularly with such organisations as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, The Orchestra of Scottish Opera and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
The ensemble’s repertoire is wide ranging, spanning five centuries in a variety of styles from original works and new commissions, to arrangements of popular classics and jazz. In addition to work within the Conservatoire, numerous outside engagements have been undertaken, including tours to China, Denmark, Russia, and the Orkney and Faroe Islands. The group has played at many prestigious civic and royal occasions and has released several CDs, including the music of Buxton Orr for Doyen, Alan Hovhannes for Naxos, and, most recently, Tongue and Groove, a compilation of some of the group’s lighter repertoire.
