Musical theatre is a competitive and demanding specialism, combining multiple live performance disciplines including acting, singing and dance. This energetic two-day course is an introduction to the rigours and challenges of musical theatre and aims to get you performing to the best of your ability.
You will use practical exercises to develop the specialist skills required to successfully
interpret musical theatre material including acting through song, character development, dance and
movement work, singing skills and stylistic choice.
This intensive weekend course is ideal for young people of secondary school age who want to
develop skills in musical theatre performance.
By the end of the short course you should have:
• Developed your acting, singing and dance skills through practical exercises
• Explored creative ways to interpret musical theatre material
• Worked on a contrasting selection of short scenes and songs from musicals
• Explored storytelling techniquesEntry
Focusing on a contrasting selection of songs, choreographies and scenes from popular musical
theatre productions, you will work individually and in groups with the support of the Course
Leaders to begin to explore your performance potential.
