Tuition Fee Support

If you would like more information contact: - studentfinance@rcs.ac.uk

Scottish and other Non-UK EU Students

If you are an eligible full-time student based in Scotland or if you are a non-UK EU student studying in Scotland and if you are studying at degree level for the first time, then the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) will pay your tuition fees. You should apply to SAAS for payment of tuition fees even if you are not applying for any other means of support.

If you have already received funding for a HND you will not normally receive funding for the first year of a degree programme, but you should be eligible for support for subsequent years. Applications can be made online and further details can be found on the SAAS website

English, Welsh and Northern Irish Students

If you are from England, Wales and Northern Ireland and intend to study in Scotland you will be eligible for the same funding package that you would benefit from it you attended an institution in you home country. Significantly, variable top-up fees have not been introduced in Scotland.

Eligible students will be able to apply for a Student Loan for Fees to cover tuition fee costs. If this applies to you you will not have to find the money before you start your programme of study or whilst you are studying, and the fees will be paid directly to the Conservatoire, on your behalf. You will need to repay these loans once you have left the Conservatoire and meet the required income level.

For further advice, you should visit the following websites

England - www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance

Wales - www.studentfinancewales.co.uk

Northern Ireland - www.studentfinanceni.co.uk

Student Loans

All UK students who are under 50 and meet the residence requirements are eligible to apply for a student loan. Applications for loans should be made through SAAS, your Local Education Authority or Education and Library Board as appropriate. Further information regarding student loans is available from the Student Loan Company website www.slc.co.uk

International Students

If you are an international or oversease student you must provide evidence to show that you can support yourself in the UK in order to have leave to remain in the country to study. Otherwise, you may not be granted a visa  for entry. Further information can be found at the British Council Website www.britishcouncil.org and the UKCISA website www.ukcisa.org.uk
