BA (Scottish Music) with Honours

We pride ourselves on the fact that every single graduate of the BA Scottish Music programmes is equipped with the knowledge, skills and experience required for a portfolio career in traditional music: teaching, composing and arranging, performing, musical directing, producing, promoting, and entrepreneurship in the music and related industries.

As a student on either the BA Scottish Music or the BA Scottish Music – Piping programme, you will develop a huge amount of public performance experience throughout your time at the Royal Conservatoire.

A major part of your development, both musically and professionally, will be a Scottish tour, which you and your fellow students will produce and perform. In recent years students have also performed at the New Hampshire Highland Games, at the handover ceremony for the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, in New York for Tartan Week, and for the Scottish Parliament.

You’ll also accumulate a great deal of business, community, and industry contacts through your studies and performance schedules. You’ll be able to utilize these contacts in business, the BBC, your work in Celtic Connections or other festivals, the formal and informal education sectors, record labels, and higher education institutions across Europe and North America, as you emerge as a graduate, fully-fledged and ready to progress your professional career.
