The Whittaker Library contains one of the most comprehensive collections of performance materials for music, dance and drama in the UK and internationally. We have over 110,000 volumes of print material and access to a growing collection of electronic resources.
The Whittaker Library is a valuable learning resource with dedicated librarians expert in each of our teaching disciplines. There’s a dedicated Silent Study area and enhanced Wi Fi hotspots to ensure our students get the best learning experience.
All staff and students are members and we are open to the public for reference purposes. In session 10/11 we had over 140,000 visits to the library.
The Whittaker Library is named after Dr. William Gillies Whittaker, the first principal of the Scottish National Academy of Music (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland).
