Design your Practice


A four week development programme for RCS Students.

Starts Thursday 22nd Feb 6.30pm and runs for four consecutive Thursdays.

Are you starting to think about how to professionalise your practice and make your living from your talent? Are you already freelancing but would benefit from a space to think, plan and reflect on how you do what you do? Do you need help and guidance with your next steps?

RCS Exchange has a programme to help you to hit the ground running.

Design Your Practice, is a Cultural Enterprise Office development programme for freelance creatives across Scotland. A specially tailored version of this programme will be available to 20 RCS students, free of charge, and will take place over 4 consecutive Thursday evenings with some follow on support.

The programme will commence at 6.30 pm and run over four Thursday evenings.

Design Your Practice will help you to think through the following key areas;

  • How do I charge for my work?

Costing and Pricing what you do. Daily rates, hourly rates, packaging your time and projects.

  • How do I sell tickets and influence my peers?

Marketing your services and building your audience.

  • How do I plan for success?

Planning and organisational structures

  • Making and managing my money

Basic finance and admin. The do’s and don’ts of running your own show.


Design Your Practice will help you to navigate these fundamentals and give you the skills to proactively take control of your future career and lay the foundations for success.

Up to 20 places are available for those who can commit to attendance at all 4 sessions.
