Winner of Sam Heughan’s Write Start initiative: Bucket of Sunshine follows three naval officers of HMS Victorious, a Vanguard class Submarine which carries Britain’s nuclear deterrent.
In the midst of a brutal war in Europe, HMS Victorious has been hit by a surprise attack from Axis forces.
With pressure piling in every direction, Commanding Officer Wallace Kirby finds himself staring down insurmountable odds, cutthroat battles and impossible choices to make.
By Wallace’s side, his Executive Officer Angela Balfour and Weapons Engineering Officer Jack McStewart attempt to navigate these uncharted waters, with each turn they take more treacherous and terrifying than the last…
Bucket of Sunshine is a stage play that discusses the moral, paradoxical and bleak nature behind their mission as a nuclear deterrent.
