Philip Higham Cello
Boccherini La Musica Notturna delle Strade di Madrid, Op. 30 No. 6 (G. 324)
Taneyev String Quintet No. 1 in G major, Op. 14
Join us at Scotland's national conservatoire for a weekend devoted to the cello, welcoming international visiting ensembles, as well as our own staff and students celebrating this versatile instrument. This year includes an incredible list of artists who join Sheku; internationally renowned Brazilian cellist Antonio Meneses, award-winning young Russian cellist Anastasia Kobekina, plus one of Britain’s finest young string quartets, the Maxwell Quartet with principal cellist of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Philip Higham. The RSNO New Auditorium will host a community day of workshops and cello artists too, so there’s something for everyone.
This festival is a partnership between the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and BBC Radio 3.
Supported by the Hilary Rosin Concert Programme.
