We are thrilled to welcome classical chart-topping cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason to open the BBC Radio 3 and RCS Cello Festival. Sheku, who provided the soundtrack to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for more than 12 million viewers in Britain and many more worldwide, is playing his part in creating new audiences for classical music in the UK and beyond.
Join us at Scotland's national conservatoire for a weekend devoted to the cello, welcoming international visiting ensembles, as well as our own staff and students celebrating this versatile instrument. This year includes an incredible list of artists who join Sheku; internationally renowned Brazilian cellist Antonio Meneses, award-winning young Russian cellist Anastasia Kobekina, plus one of Britain’s finest young string quartets, the Maxwell Quartet with principal cellist of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Philip Higham. The RSNO New Auditorium will host a community day of workshops and cello artists too, so there’s something for everyone.
