Students, parents and carers gathered at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland this month for the Transitions induction days, for 2016/17. This year saw the initiativereceive it’s biggest everintake, with 160 new and returning students attending and that number issure to increase over the coming weeks.

The participants and their families experienced the outstanding talents of current and transitioning students fromvarious disciplines and a warm welcome from the entire Transitions team. One of the performers Lucy Tomas, guitarist and saxophonist said:

“It was a beneficial and enjoyable experience to play in front of an audience. At the start of the induction we were introduced to the Transitions team which allowed us to put names to faces. It’s with great thanks to Transition as I believe I would not have been able to come as far as I have as a musician without their support.”

After the introductions and performances, guests were separated into disciplines and received all the information they would require about the initiative.

Transitions Student Assistant Chris Michie reflected upon the inductions, as a student now successfully transitioning from the initiative and into the Bachelor of Music course at RCS:

“It’s brilliant to see all the new pupils begin their exciting journey in Transitions as I’m leaving. The one thing I reiterated to each and every one of the students was that they’re taking part in an outstanding experience and should make the most of every opportunity. Transitions have looked after me from day 1 over 2 years ago; the team are amazing and with their generosity and care I’m lucky enough to begin BMus Flute in September 2016. I’m proud to call myself a Transition student.”
