Classical Programme

Our classical music programme is for young people aged 11 – 18 years.

Through this programme, students attend:

  • 1:1 tuition in a principal study (any instrument including voice and conducting)
  • Choir
  • Musicianship class
  • Opportunity to participate in a chamber ensemble
  • Opportunity to participate in a large ensemble

In addition, students have the following options:

  • To undertake a subsidiary study (any instrument including voice and conducting)
  • To participate in a different genre ensemble (i.e. jazz or traditional)
  • To undertake an additional study class in composition or conducting

Our programme focusses on skills development. Every participant receives a 45 minute lesson in their principal study, which can be increased to an hour for an additional fee.

Large ensembles which our students can participate in include, but are not limited to:

  • Junior Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra (ABRSM Grade 7+ students)
  • Junior Conservatoire Sinfonia (ABRSM Grade 5+)
  • Wind Orchestra and wind groups
  • Big Band
  • Percussion Ensembles
  • Brass groups
  • Gamelan (world music)
  • Traditional Ensemble

Optional studies for students who have passed their ABRSM Grade 5 theory include:

  • Conducting
  • Composition
