Integrating BSL and English

Short study

Introduction

This unique course is for both deaf and hearing participantss who are interested in making performance which combines BSL and English. It will be led by Claire Lamont (Head of BA Performance in BSL at RCS) and a professional playwright.

The course is an opportunity to experiment with how a mixture of verbal and visual languages can be used to tell stories in a theatrical way.

Students will work on dramatic texts and use practical exercises to explore stylistic choice, delivery, pace and tone within performance.

Sign language interpreters will be available throughout the course to ensure effective communication between deaf and hearing students.
