During this workshop, you will participate in a range of exercises and activities which will allow you to explore the devices and techniques employed in choreography. You will work to develop a range of sequences in different styles for solos, duets and ensembles.

During this workshop, you will participate in a range of exercises and activities which will allow you to explore the devices and techniques employed in choreography. You will work to develop a range of sequences in different styles for solos, duets and ensembles.

 

Course outline

The course aims to introduce a variety of methodologies and techniques which can be used to choreograph dance. Students will also have the opportunity to work with a small group of dancers in order to put their skills into practice.

By the end of this intensive short course, students should have:

• been introduced to a range of choreography methodologies and techniques

• developed a more critical eye when looking atand discussing dance and performance

• explored key aspects of putting together a piece of dance performance

• had the opportunity to develop personal creative ideas with a small group of dancers

Agnes Allan Bursary

Agnes Allan was a teacher, passionate about inclusion, and this bursary scheme exists to offer support to students to participate in the performing or production arts.

The Agnes Allan Bursary provides some support to students who may require financial assistance to take part in a short course in dance, drama, music, production or screen.

Anyone who wishes to take part in our Lifelong Learning courses and faces a financial barrier can apply for bursary support to help meet the cost of tuition fees.

Entry requirements

There are no entry requirements, although an interest in dance would be beneficial.

Preparing for your course

Students should dress appropriately in loose and comfortable clothing that covers the body. Please be prepared to work without shoes on our specialist dance floors.

Students should bring water as activities in this course will be physical.

Students should also bring a notepad and pen to make notes during classes.
