RAD Advanced Foundation Ballet (Tuesdays)

The RAD Advanced Foundation Ballet syllabus challenges and inspires students technically and creatively. It aims to encourage critical thinking and physical fitness, and helps students develop their understanding of the vocabulary and technique of ballet.

Upon successful participation of the course, students can be entered for the Advanced Foundation Examination. Successful candidates are eligible to become Affiliate Members of the Royal Academy of Dance.

Students will be taught in professional dance spaces, and when required accompanied by a pianist. Classes will focus on dance technique and performance skills, working towards optional examination and class awards.

These classes provide an opportunity to study ballet through recreational and vocational routes. They are suitable for students who want to develop their dance technique and skills further, or are new to dance and looking for a fun way to get fit.

Students who study the RAD syllabus will have:

  • Achievable goals to work towards
  • Recognition from the world’s largest ballet examination board
  • Qualifications that are fully accredited by the UK regulatory authorities
  • The impetus to achieve their personal best in a fun and nurturing environment

Financial support



Agnes Allan Bursary

Agnes Allan was a teacher, passionate about inclusion, and this bursary scheme exists to offer support to students to participate in the performing or production arts.

The Agnes Allan Bursary provides some support to students who may require financial assistance to take part in a short course in dance, drama, music, production or screen.

Anyone who wishes to take part in our Lifelong Learning courses and faces a financial barrier can apply for bursary support to help meet the cost of tuition fees.

Students should normally have completed RAD Intermediate Ballet.
