Introducing

RCS

A Curriculum Built Around Performance

All of our students perform publicly in their time at RCS in a mixture of ensembles and collaborations. These happen within the School of Music and across other artforms. Performances take place in five of our professional venues and at external venues around Scotland, and beyond.

View our YouTube playlist to view some of these collaborations and performances…

Professional Partnerships

We have professional partnerships with all of Scotland’s national performing arts companies. This allows us to create meaningful collaborations with industry to benefit our students. This could include side-by-side rehearsals, masterclasses and performance opportunities.

Scottish Chamber Orchestra

Internationally celebrated orchestra which offers RCS students unique side-by-side learning and performing opportunities.

Royal Scottish National Orchestra

One of Europe’s leading orchestras, the RSNO offers music students the chance to audition for the RSNO Professional Experience scheme and also offers side-by-side opportunities.

BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra

This partnership offers deep and meaningful connections for our students straight to the heart of Scottish broadcasting, arts and culture.

Scottish Ensemble

A pioneering orchestra where exceptional players champion music for strings, promoting the rich diversity of the repertoire and exploring adventurous ways through which can be presented and shared.

Scottish Opera

Scotland’s national opera company is the largest performing arts organisation in the country and offers performance opportunities in co-productions and side-by-side rehearsals with The Orchestra of Scottish Opera.

Scottish Ballet

This bold and inspiring company designs and delivers the BA Modern Ballet programme in partnership with RCS.
