Keenan Fletcher, final year BA Modern Ballet student, has today been announced as one of Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures cast members.
Keenan will be part of the cast for Swan Lake, which will tour the UK for 32 weeks starting in September 2018, including an eight-week run at Sadler’s Wells over Christmas.
Keenan is about to complete his studies at the Royal Conservatoire after joining the programme in second year. Originally from Jamaica, Keenan was a relative latecomer to the world of dance, beginning his training at the age of 17.
“There weren’t many places to study strict ballet in Jamaica. I went to a dance school that had ballet classes two, sometimes three, days a week. When I arrived in Glasgow and started my training at the Royal Conservatoire, I went in to seven hours of dancing every day.”
The training has clearly paid off and Keenan will join the Company shortly after his final RCS performance in the Modern Ballet Graduation Performance.
Head of Modern Ballet, Kerry Livingstone, is thrilled with the appointment.
“Keenan has been extremely dedicated to his studies since he started training with us in September 2017. It has been a joy to watch him progress and we are all delighted to see him accepted into such a wonderful company. We can’t wait to see him on stage in Swan Lake later this year.”
