2020 – 2021 Fellows
The Bruce Millar Graduate Fellowship for 2020-2021 was a collaborative partnership between Sinéad Hargan and Anya Sirina. Sinéad and Anya graduated with a BA Honours in Contemporary Performance Practice in 2019 and have been working as creative collaborators for several years.
The one-year collaborative research and development project, titled Seeking Spaces Eroded, saw the creation of an archive of performance research made at, and in response to, tidal sites. Describing their project, Sinéad and Anya said, “The Earth is in trouble. Our generation has been left to clean up the mess of centuries worth of devastation, of pillaging of resources, of wealth before well-being. Hotter temperatures, stronger storms, rising seas, and so much more, threaten the health of our families and the future we pass on to generations to come. This global crisis lies heavy on our conscience.”
Sinéad and Anya researched and developed performance-making methods that reject traditional patriarchal ways of working, in order to find new ways to comprehend the ecological crisis from a feminist perspective.
