This course is designed to introduce you to the basic elements of teaching dance including:
- Health & safety.
- Musical accompaniment.
- Class planning.
- Construction of exercises.
During the course you will be expected to:
- Demonstrate understanding of safe dance practice in the delivery of dance classes at different levels.
- Demonstrate the ability to construct, plan, deliver and record basic exercises for dance classes.
- Demonstrate the ability to use reflection following class observations to inform own practice.
The course consists of 20 contact hours as well as additional independent study. It is worth 10 SCQF credits (at level 8) and 5 ECTS credits. You will be assessed through a Practical Teaching Demonstration (50%) and a Teaching File (50%).
