Matthew Gibson is in the final term of his MMus Répétiteurship at the RCS. His musical training began in the form of choristership and later choral scholarship with the choirs of King’s and St John’s College, Cambridge respectively.
Matthew read Music at the University of Cambridge, where his first involvement in opera commenced as an undergraduate. Chorus singing in The Rake’s Progress and L’elisir d’amore, chorus master work on Savitri and Hänsel und Gretel, and répétiteur work on Il Signor Bruschino were all possible through the University’s Opera Society.
In Matthew’s first year at the RCS he played three sets of Opera Scenes, as well as working on a production of Giulio Cesare with John Butt. In his second year in Glasgow, Matthew is a répétiteur on all the main RCS productions, and after completing his studies will join the Mascarade Opera Studio in Florence as their latest Emerging Artist Répétiteur.
