Sophia was born in Boston and started ballet training at the age of seven. She began her training at Midoriko Ballet Studio and Atelier de Ballet Feerie, where her passion for ballet blossomed. She was passionate about competitions during her three years of secondary school and spent two of her high school years at a correspondence high school that supported the development of ballet dancers, where she used the time to train further more.
Also, she has participated in numerous summer schools and competitions including Yorkshire Ballet Summer Seminar, the Australian ballet summer intensive, Governor’s Award in Modern Ballet section and Excellence Award in Classic section at the 35th Selected Newcomers of Chiba Art Dance Society, JAPAN. By participating in these summer schools, she had the opportunity to receive instruction from world-class teachers and choreographers.
In 2018, at the age of 17, Sophia auditioned for the BA Modern Ballet course at the RCS. Over the next three years, she worked with leading choreographers such as Nick Shoesmith and Sophie Laplane.
She was further accepted onto Northern ballet’s post graduate programme, so for the next year she will have the opportunity to work with Northern Ballet dancers.
