Javier recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland after studying for a Masters in Accompaniment under the tutelage of Scott Mitchell and Fali Pavri. Prior to studying at RCS, Javier completed a Masters in Piano Performance at the Estonian Academy of Music with Ivari Ilja and Ave Sikk.
During his studies at the RCS, Javier has been a recipient of the RCS Trust and the Sam Hutchings Trust. He was awarded the Sam Hutchings Accompaniment Fellowship and the Alex Menzies Memorial Fund Prize for accompanists in 2018. He is also a recipient of the 2019 Roderick Brydon Award, winner of the 2019 Elgar-Spedding Lieder duo prize with Lauren Young and the 2020 James H Geddes Bursary for Répétiteurs.
Recent operatic collaborations include: Trouble in Tahiti, Dead Man Walking, Le Nozze di Figaro and The Rape of Lucretia (RCS). He will be part of the music staff at Grange Park Opera in the 2021 season and he is also a regular accompanist for the National Youth Choir of Scotland. Highlights in recent recitals include the Oxford Lieder YAP, the Scottish Opera Emerging artists showcase and the online season for Grange Park. He was also invited in 2020 to be part of the Leeds Lieder YAP with Lauren Young.
