Join us for our JC DDPF Spring Masterclasses 24!

We’re excited to announce we have a wide range of Masterclasses that will be running from the 2nd – 5th of April 2024 that are NOW OPEN for booking! Please have a read through of everything we have on offer.

We are also running a Spring Ballet Intensive which you can find more information about on the dedicated Spring Ballet Intensive page.

We are also running a Pre-Juniors Dance Intensive. This is a special opportunity for our dance students in Primary 4 – Primary 7 to study a diverse range of dance styles.

Please note spaces are LIMITED and reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis, so we recommending booking asap to avoid disappointment. We are also pleased to be offering priority booking and a 10% Discount Code* on all classes for our Junior Conservatoire students.

Who are these masterclasses for?

These Masterclasses are for any young person who has an interest in Dance, Acting, Musical Theatre, Film and Production studies.

Before booking, please note the age ranges for each class.

Dance Masterclasses

Learn choreography from the West End musical 42nd Street choreographed and designed by Olivier Award winners Bill Dreamer and Rob Jones.  Students will learn directly from experienced cast member Jessica Scott. 

Jessica trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and the highlight of her career was performing in the West End production of 42nd Street.

Recommended for students aged aged 11 upwards.

Led by Bethany Kingsley-Garner

Bethany joined Scottish Ballet in 2007 and was promoted to Soloist and then Principal Dancer having performed numerous roles. Bethany  was nominated by the Critics Circle for Outstanding Classical Performance, and is actively involved in Dance Education teaching and guest coaching at workshops and seminars across the world. Bethany was chosen to be a Champion of Scotland to inspire, motivate and encourage young people. Bethany enjoy presenting to audiences and has appeared as a Ballet Mentor for the BBC Young Dancer. Bethany got awarded Ambassadorship of “Scotland is Now” and named The peoples Ballerina,  most recently created Be Inspired dance wear collection with Movedance, individually designed to inspire dancers and share positivity and encouragement.

Bethany has worked very closely with The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to create the unique link from company to school, being awarded Ambassador for the Morden Ballet course she will be present and coach the dancer of the next generation.

Students will learn choreography inspired by the musical Hamilton in this 2.5 hour workshop.  Students will learn directly from Hamilton cast member Honey Joseph.

Honey Joseph studied Musical Theatre at The Urdang Academy in London.  Since graduating, Honey has performed in Legally Blonde the musical at Regents Park theatre, Moulin Rouge! The musical At the Piccadilly theatre, west end, and is currently appearing as the Bullet (cover Peggy/Angelica) on the Uk & Ireland tour.
Honey also appears as ‘Saskia’ in BBC iplayers Logan High. She danced in Dizzie Rascal ft Ella eyre’s ‘Body loose’ music video, and appeared as a dancer in Disney’s ‘DISENCHATED’.

Students will study jazz dance and audition technique in this two hour workshop.  Students will learn directly from Lion King cast member Mark Hindle.

Some of Marks professional credits include: The Classical Spectacular at The Royal Albert Hall London, Celebrity Cruises, Pirates of the Caribbean for The Queens Jubilee Concert, The Dutch Musical Gala and Walt Disney’s The Lion King award winning musical.Mark has recently completed two years at The Royal Ballet School on their teachers diploma and is now a qualified ballet teacher under The Royal Ballet School. He has also taught for The Royal Ballet School Associate and Primary Steps programs. Mark has been invited by The Royal Ballet School to be a guest assessor and was on the schools panel for their final auditions. Mark has also taught the Yorkshire Seminars along with teaching the Auditions for The National Youth of Great Britain. Mark currently adjudicates nationally and internationally for VAD Productions and The Dance World Cup.

Students will study choreographic structure and spend the day creating original dance movement in this full day workshop with choreographer Nicholas Shoesmith.

Nicholas is a Choreographer, Dance Coach and Performance Artist based in Glasgow. He spent 10 years performing with Scottish Ballet as a Soloist before taking up the role of Associate Choreographer for the company in 2022. He’s since created a range of digital and live works for the company,  (Catalyst, Odyssey, Trifecta) as well as working abroad in his home country, Australia.

Drama, Film and Production Masterclasses

Are you ready to take the next step and learn the essential techniques required to act for the big screen? This day long course will offer you the opportunity to maximise your presence on screen and deliver a relaxed and truthful performance for the camera.

With the support of industry professional Adam Robertson you will be asked to bring with you a 1 page monologue (no longer that 2 minutes) and encouraged to perform your work in your own accent.

Adam Robertson is an actor, director and producer who has worked across all fields of Stage and Screen. His TV credits include Wire in The Blood, Taggart, Casualty, Outlander, and playing series regular Dr. Dan Hunter in River City. In addition to his acting work, he is also known for his work as a director and producer, most notably in the award-winning feature film Third Star, which he produced and starred in alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Hugh Bonneville.

Stage Combat is performed across theatre, film and television, so knowing how to create realistic and safe fight scenes is a key skill for all budding performers. In this workshop, we’ve invited a special guest lecturer, EmmaClaire Brightlyn, to show you the ropes. One of the leading fight direction choreographers in the country, EmmaClaire’s credits include Anna and the Apocalypse, Ulster AmericanCrocodile Fever, National Theatre of Scotland’s Mina’s Reckoning and many, many more).

Across the half-day session, EmmaClaire will show you how to put together sections of fight choreography in a safe and effective way. This is a perfect opportunity for performers of all disciplines who are looking to enhance their movement skills, broaden your experience in a versatile craft that covers theatre and screen, and most importantly, have a lot of fun!

Looking for a one-day masterclass in Theatre directing?
Want to learn how to deconstruct and stage a piece of theatre text?
Examine potential roles for a show and consider the design elements?

Then this one-day masterclass taking place on the 2nd of April is for you! This is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of theatre directing and get a good understanding of all of the essentials required to stage a show.

Andy McGregor trained at Glasgow University and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, he is artistic director of Sleeping Warrior Theatre Company. Shows he has written, composed and directed include Battery ParkSpuds, A New Life, Crocodile Rock, The Rise and Inevitable Fall of Lucas Petit, Pure Freezin’ and Love 2.0. He wrote and composed The Park (National Theatre of Scotland) and directed Ever Young (Beacon Arts Centre). He has made various Christmas shows for wee ones at The Citizens Theatre and writes and directs the Christmas pantos for PACE in Paisley.
