Training and Development

IPresario

Stephen Redwood (BA Acting, 2016) has built an app to connect writers and producers from across the world with licensing and is looking to increase the plays and musicals on the platform.

IPresario works to democratise this important income stream for all writers, allowing them to continue to create. As a writer, you can upload and license your works to producers across the globe, even without representation, and, for time-constrained producers, it’s designed to provide one place where you can license any work, removing the difficulties of finding and purchasing a licence.

Jobs

Diocese of Leeds Music

Diocese of Leeds Music is seeking to appoint a Whole-Class Ensemble Director and Instrumental Tutor to work on their Keyboard Studies Programme. Together with their Schools Singing Programme, they work with around 7,500 children each week in schools across West and North Yorkshire, and their 19 after-school choirs provide outstanding choral opportunities for young people, including BBC broadcasts, tours and recordings.

This role is for an all-round, flexible musician who has a vocation for music education and an ability to nurture young talent. This term-time role, working in the Keyboard Studies Programme, could suit a variety of candidates from different backgrounds:

  • A classroom teacher who wants to move towards a more specialised musical career, with fewer hours of delivery and a smaller amount of planning and reporting
  • An early career musician or teacher who is looking to expand their classroom and individual teaching skills
  • An experienced performer and one-to-one instrumental tutor with an interest in teaching an innovative whole-class music curriculum
  • Working parents, who are looking for hours generally within the school day

For applicants who are skilled pianists and/or organists, there is additional work accompanying their choirs and/or delivering one-to-one lessons in the Wakefield and Ossett area.

The Keyboard Studies Programme provides not only high-quality organ, piano and classical accordion tuition for young singers in their choirs across the Diocese but also their trail-blazing whole-class Introduction to Keyboard scheme using the melodica. Together with its Schools Singing Programme, Diocese of Leeds Music works with around 7,500 children each week in schools across West and North Yorkshire.

The role comes with great colleagues, plenty of training/support, a pay development scale and much potential for personal development that suits early-career or new graduates. Their programme has proved a reliable springboard for ambitious musicians, with a strong record of staff moving on to senior leadership roles elsewhere after several years as members of their team.

Full details for the jobs are available by requesting an application pack from recruitment@dioceseofleedsmusic.org.uk, and further information about their work is available on their website and Facebook page.

Starting salary of £19,834 (FTE £28,910), depending on hours and experience.

Closing date: Monday 4 November  at 9.00am.
