Professor Jeffrey Sharkey, performs Dvo?ák Piano Trio No.1 in B flat, Op.21, with his wife, the cellist Alison Wells and Maya Iwabuchi on Violin.

As is traditional for new professors at RCS , Jeffrey Sharkey was invited to present a performance that is reflective of him as an artist and he shared a programme that celebrated his passions for chamber music, dance, and his curiosity for new musical experiences, which included his first steps into Scottish traditional music under the expert guidance of Artistic Director of Traditional Music Phil Cunningham and Head of Brass, John Logan.

Professorships will be awarded to five world-leading artists and educators at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland this summer. They are:

David Watkin, Head of Strings at RCS
Andrew Panton: Artistic Director of Musical Theatre
Tim Dean: Head of Opera
Dr Margaret Bennett: Writer, singer, folklorist and broadcaster
Dr Stephen Broad: Head of RCS’s Research and Knowledge Exchange
