Benjamin Smart

About

Ben Smart is a Scottish tenor from the East Neuk of Fife, currently in his final undergraduate year of Vocal Studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Ben has performed with Scottish Opera Young Company in The Tsar Has His Photograph Taken and Rubble and was a member of Scotland’s National Youth Choir. At RCS, he has sung with the Chamber Choir and RCS Choir, performing on BBC Scotland. He has also appeared in chorus roles for Idomeneo and Carmen and performed at the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.

Last summer, Ben joined Dorset Opera’s Madama Butterfly and Under the Greenwood Tree chorus, leading to his role as Bastien in Bastien und Bastienne with Bread and Bus Stop Opera. He continues his training under Iain Paton as he starts his Master’s next academic year at RCS
