Brodie is one of the most in demand bass players, sought after by many musicians on the Scottish Jazz scene.

Through the years Brodie has worked and recorded with many esteemed ensembles including The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra.

Whilst gaining his Masters degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Brodie worked with some of the leading European jazz musicians of today including Jasper Blom, Reinier Baas, Ben van Gelder, Joris Roelofs and Ernst Glerum. There he regularly performed in some of The Netherlands many jazz festivals, such as: North Sea Jazz Festival, Amsterdam Jazz Fest, Amersfoort Jazz Festival.

Now in Glasgow, Brodie leads his own projects including ‘Deceptive Lizard’ and ‘Fine Men With Foul Tongues’ who embarked on their first tour in late 2022 and also performed at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival the same year. He is one of the most in demand bass players, sought after by many musicians on the Scottish Jazz scene. Brodie is a permanent member of the Brian Molley Quartet who have been selected for the prestigious ‘Made in Scotland’ program at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in 2019 travelled to India to perform at Jazz festivals in Jodhpur and Madras. He is also a resident member of pianist Paul Harrison’s band ‘Act Shy’. Furthermore, Brodie co-curates a monthly series of Jazz and Improvised music concerts at The Glad Cafe in Glasgow with fellow musician, Emilie Boyd.

As a composer, he was commissioned by Symphony Hall, Birmingham as part of their Jazzlines talent development opportunity which premiered on 30th October 2022.
