Co-Programme Lead, MA Psychology in the Arts (Music)

Dr Rachel Drury is a researcher and creative artist working in the field of music psychology and therapeutic arts. She is Co-programme Lead for the MA Psychology in the Arts (Music) programme at the RCS and the music specialist for Rachel House Children’s Hospice in Kinross (CHAS).

Dr Rachel Drury (she/her) is a researcher and creative artist working in the field of music psychology and therapeutic arts. She is Co-Programme Leader for the MA Psychology in the Arts (Music) programme at the RCS and the music specialist for Rachel House Children’s Hospice in Kinross (CHAS). As a creative artist, Rachel’s work has been performed at major festivals both nationally and internationally, and she regularly works with national arts companies in the UK as a consultant on creative projects and training opportunities for artists.

Rachel is co-PI for a current research partnership with Starcatchers (‘Voice of the Baby’ – Starcatchers) exploring current and emerging rights-based approaches in the arts for very young children in Scotland with a focus on participation rights and developing an arts-based methodology for early years participation. Her current creative and research interests focus on rights-based approaches in the arts in the following contexts: music in therapeutic settings (in particular, paediatric palliative care) and arts in social and criminal justice.
