Ellie Johnstone Shaw

Bio:

Ellie Johnstone Shaw is a stage technician with a focus on flys and automation. She began her training with GHS Presents, where she worked across lighting, sound, rigging and stage management, gaining a broad understanding of how different departments come together to run a show.

She is currently studying Technical Stage and Automation at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she has been involved in a wide range of productions, gaining practical experience across multiple backstage disciplines. Her work has included flys, automation, and stage operations, contributing to the successful delivery of each production. During her time at RCS, she has also taken on senior leadership roles such as Head of Flys and Automation and Head of Stage, with responsibility for overseeing teams and managing complex technical elements across both large-scale and studio-based productions.

Alongside her training, Ellie has also worked professionally as a flyman and foys operator at the Citizens Theatre, giving her professional experience of fly systems in a busy producing house. She enjoys the practical, problem-solving side of technical theatre and working as part of a team, and is keen to keep building her experience across different types of shows.
