Francis Thomas

BA Modern Ballet, Class of 2025

Francis is from North Yorkshire, and completed his pre-vocational training at the Centre for Advanced Training within the Academy of Northern Ballet in Leeds. He then moved to Glasgow to continue his full-time training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

At RCS, Francis was given many incredible opportunities: most notably to work with industry choreographers including Christopher Bruce, Mark Bruce and Nicholas Shoesmith – creating original works, learning professional repertoire, and performing them in front of live audiences. He has enjoyed many performance opportunities with RCS and in his third year was selected to dance with Scottish Ballet for their 8-week winter tour of The Nutcracker.

The outstanding training on the BA Modern Ballet course has provided Francis with invaluable experience and connections, which have now helped him secure an apprenticeship with the Yorke Dance Project. He is extremely grateful for the close support of the ballet staff and for the technical skills and knowledge they have helped him acquire as he enters the professional world.
