Melissa Oxley

BA Modern Ballet, Class of 2025

Born in Frimley, England, Melissa’s passion for dance grew from her local tap and modern classes, until she started ballet at Farnham Dance aged 9, studying RAD syllabus, where her love for ballet bloomed. She joined Ballet Boost and the Academy of Balletic Arts in London in 2018 to start her vocational training. Since 2022 Melissa has been enjoying full time training at the RCS, and is looking forward to graduating in July.

During her time at RCS, Melissa has enjoyed growing and developing as an artist and as a person, supported by the staff and her peers throughout the journey. Over the three years, she has been fortunate to work with a range of acclaimed choreographers including Nicholas Shoesmith, Mark Bruce, and Christopher Bruce, and being able to perform their choreography has been an incredible opportunity and source of inspiration. In addition to the outstanding training, focusing not only on technique but individuality as an artist, Melissa has gained invaluable performance experience, dancing in various locations such as Gleneagles Hotel, Sheraton Grand Hotel, and the New Athenaeum Theatre.

Melissa would like to thank all the ballet staff at RCS for making her training so enjoyable and fulfilling, and is excited to see what the future holds for her as she enters the professional world.
