Polly Beck

Junior Conservatoire Lecturer, Vocal Studies

Polly is an Accredited Member of Vocal Health Education and holds a British Kodaly Certificate of Professional Practice in the Kodaly Concept of Education (Primary) awarded by the British Kodaly Academy and the National Youth Choir of Scotland.

Greenock-based, Polly, is originally from Liverpool and achieved a BA in Music Performance at RSAMD (now RCS) before going on to perform full-time with Scottish Opera’s chorus.

She was awarded scholarships from D’Oyly Carte, Peter Moores and Countess of Munster, and earned an MMus at RNCM, specialising in the Application of Stanislavski’s System in opera and song. She also achieved an LTCL Teacher’s in Speech and Drama.

As a soloist, Polly has enjoyed oratorio, concert and operatic work, singing with various UK orchestras. Notable performances include Rape of Lucretia for Aldeburgh 40th Anniversary; Royal Opening of the Beacon Arts Centre; Lyric Opera in Ireland; Scottish Opera Orchestra; Verdi’s Requiem at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and more recently with the RSNO Orchestra and Chorus.

Alongside giving singing lessons at the RCS Junior Conservatoire, Polly’s work extends to other organisations for Vocal Teaching, Performance Workshops, and lectures in Vocal Health such as: NYCOS, University of Glasgow, Scottish Opera Education Department, Inverclyde Music Services, Junior RNCM, Music Education Partners Group, and several Education Conferences.

Polly is a director and conductor for the Inverclyde Authority Senior Choir VOISS (Voices of Inverclyde Senior Schools) and the Vocal Coach for the RSNO Chorus, and she continues to enjoy a variety of concert work in the UK and North America.
