Career Long Professional Learning (CLPL)

Recharge your Expressive Arts teaching practice.

Overview

Our CLPL programme is for secondary school Expressive Arts teachers working in Scotland. We prioritise schools located in areas with a high percentage of students from SIMD20 postcodes.

Our CLPL sessions are led by RCS tutors or experienced freelance specialists. They aim to refresh and energise your teaching and develop your skillset in a relaxed, inspiring and professional environment.

Recent sessions have included: Directing Text, Practical Prop Making, Ways into Composition, Choreography Techniques and Set and Costume Design.

Our CLPL programme helps to build strong connections between RCS and secondary schools, preparing pupils for further and higher education and careers in the creative industries.

“The whole session was excellent, fantastic staff, materials, and venue.  Everything was perfect and I can’t wait to build on this excellent training” — CLPL Student

About Fair Access

The purpose of Fair Access is to help people from the most deprived communities in Scotland have the same chance at entering Higher Education as someone from the least deprived areas. We mainly work with those aged 16-21+ who are statistically less likely to attend university.

We provide eligible individuals, schools, communities and professionals with a wide range of activity, including:

  • Outreach
  • Professional development for teachers
  • Supportive artist and partnership projects

Our main aim is to help young people from a Fair Access background prepare for Higher Education at RCS. This helps us to ensure wider societal representation at our institution and in the creative industries.
