Year-long Weekly Short Course for Children and Young People
Page Navigation
Overview
Our Saturday afternoon Drama: Production class for Secondary 1-3 students offers an exciting opportunity to explore a different play each term, giving students the chance to experience a wide variety of characters, themes, and performance styles. Whether you’re a budding actor or just looking to try something new, this class will help you develop your acting skills, stage presence, and confidence in a fun and creative environment. Term 3 culminates in a sharing where students will showcase the skills they’ve learned throughout the term.
Each term, students will focus on a different play, ranging from classic works to modern stories. They’ll work on analysing the script, understanding character motivations, and learning how to bring these characters to life. In addition to focusing on character development, students will improve their voice, body language, and stagecraft, learning how to express emotions and tell a story through movement and speech. By performing different styles of plays, students will also build their versatility as actors.
Throughout weekly rehearsals, students will engage in group work, improving their ability to collaborate as an ensemble. The class emphasizes the importance of teamwork, confidence, and communication, allowing students to learn how to support each other on stage while developing their individual performances.
By the end of this course you will have:
- Developed fundamental acting skills including voice projection, physicality, and emotional expression
- Learned to analyse scripts and understand characters, storylines, and themes
- Build strong character development skills, bringing roles to life with authenticity
- Improves stage presence and confidence through performance opportunities
- Strengthen ensemble collaboration and teamwork in group scenes
- Enhance physical acting techniques, using movement and body language to tell a story
Throughout the year, you will have the opportunity to work towards a short performance for an invited audience of family and friends.
- Public Sharing – 20 June 2026 (friends and family are invited to this performance)
