Skills Studio

Overview

Our Skills Studio workshops are for secondary school Expressive Arts teachers and arts practitioners working with young people and communities across Scotland. We prioritise people working in areas with a high percentage of students or young people from SIMD20 postcodes.

Skills Studio workshops are designed for practitioners, teachers and artists already working in production, performing and community arts. Dive deep into the nuances of your craft, push creative boundaries and explore new techniques in a supportive environment.

These sessions are designed and facilitated by experienced industry professionals and are an opportunity to try something new, refresh your practice and connect with like-minded people.

As well as focusing on skills development and deepening understanding of artform, the workshops will explore the transformative power of engaging in performing and production arts activity.

About Fair Access

The purpose of Fair Access is to help people from the most deprived communities in Scotland have the same chance at entering Higher Education as someone from the least deprived areas. We mainly work with those aged 16-21+ who are statistically less likely to attend university.

We provide eligible individuals, schools, communities and professionals with a wide range of activity, including:

  • Outreach
  • Professional development for teachers
  • Supportive artist and partnership projects

Our main aim is to help young people from a Fair Access background prepare for Higher Education at RCS. This helps us to ensure wider societal representation at our institution and in the creative industries.
