Student Support

Our Fair Access team is committed to ensuring you feel supported during your time with us. We know that when the right support is in place the right time you can focus on your studies and thrive as a learner at RCS.

Financial

All Fair Access activities are free for young people who meet our Fair Access criteria. In addition to this we can support some of our learners with the following things during their studies:

  • Travel expenses
  • Accommodation expenses (for students travelling from further afield to take part in our activities)
  • Equipment to support your artform
  • Theatre and concert tickets for you to experience live performance

Learning Support

When you sign up for Fair Access activities, we will ask you what you need put in place to allow you to engage fully in the work, and be at your best. Where possible, we will put in supports and/or make reasonable adjustments to help reduce any barriers to learning or participation.

If you would like to find out more about this, get in touch at fairaccess@rcs.ac.uk

Support for Care Experienced and Estranged Students

Our department also provides support for Care Experienced and Estranged students, you can find out more about our work in this area on the dedicated Supporting You and Corporate Parenting pages.

Coaching

As part our holistic approach to student support, Fair Access offer coaching sessions to some of our learners who we believe will benefit from 1:1 support and structured time to reflect, set goals and work towards achieving them.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

The Fair Access team strongly promote activities and practices that support our student’s mental health and wellbeing. Both within course activities and via our online resources we encourage students to develop strategies and tools which they can use to develop health and sustainable ways of working.

Emergency Support

If you are facing a crisis outside the working hours of the Fair Access staff, you can find contact information for organisations who may be able to help you on our Emergency Support page.
