Below is a list of charities you can contact to help you in a crisis situation, or for longer term support:

 

The Samaritans are a non-religious, non-judgmental, confidential listening organisation in the UK. Their overall aim is to prevent suicide.

Breathing Space was set up to help young people over the age of 16 in Scotland who are suffering from anxiety, depression or feeling low.

Young Minds are a mental health charity for children, young people and their parents, making sure all young people can get the mental health support they need. Their website provides lots of information and links to further sources of support.

 

Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. The website has a wealth of information for students experiencing an eating disorder and support for anyone who is worried about a friend, colleague or family member.

Rape Crisis Scotland offers help and support to individuals of all genders living in Scotland aged 13+ who have been affected by sexual violence (who are survivors of rape or sexual assault). The helpline offers confidential short-term, crisis and initial support by phone, email, webchat and text.

Mindline Trans+ offer an emotional and mental health support helpline for anyone identifying as transgender, non-binary, genderfluid.

LGBT+ Helpline Scotland provide information and emotional support to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their families, friends and supporters across Scotland.

Centrepoint is the UKs’ leading youth homelessness charity who can provide advice and support to young people who are experiencing homelessness or may be about to.

Shelter Scotland provides housing and homelessness advice and campaigns for the end of Scotland’s housing crisis.
