Access Courses

Our brand-new Access Courses are designed to support people who intend to apply to study at RCS and offer 40 credits at SCQF Level 6.

They provide high-quality training for students interested in studying Production, Arts with Community, or Music Education at Undergraduate level at RCS.

On the course, you will develop practical skills to improve your artform, take part in regular training and audition and interview preparation, and receive expert advice which helps you navigate the UCAS system, personal statement writing and the audition/interview process.

The courses are structured to sit alongside school, college or work and are delivered using a mixture of in person and online teaching.

Access Courses are part of our Fair Access programme and are eligible for young people who meet our Fair Access Criteria:

  • Living in an SIMD20 or SIMD40 postcode*
  • Care-experienced
  • Estranged and receiving no support from your family (whether biological or adoptive or wider family members)

Where spaces are limited we will prioritise applications from people living in SIMD20 postcodes.

BA Arts with Community

BA Arts with Community is a three-year degree programme for artists who want to explore performing and/or production arts in community contexts.

Whether you are a performer, writer, musician, dancer, storyteller, production artist or filmmaker, this programme will encourage you to develop your own artform, facilitation practice and voice, as a socially engaged practitioner.

It is ideal for self-determined learners who are motivated by the positive impact that that the arts can have.

Students will investigate the performing and/or production arts creatively, collaboratively, and ethically, with a range of people and settings, all underpinned by practice, theory and research.

There is an Access Course pathway to the BA Arts with Community degree programme which is for young people who meet our Fair Access criteria:

BA Dance Artist

BA Dance Artist is a one year ‘top-up’ degree for students who have completed an HND (or SCQF Level 8 equivalent) qualification.

You will graduate with the technical and artistic skills to work in a diverse range of jobs in the dance profession.

Alongside practical dance training, you will develop your collaborative, choreographic and teaching skills, increasing your employability on graduation.
