Andrew McTaggart
Andrew McTaggart is a Singing Teacher within the Vocal Department, Opera School and BEd course. Andrew always aims to promote a keen and active love of singing and the repertoire whist building technical assurance and confidence.
Andrew’s favourite concert since graduating was his Edinburgh International Festival debut singing Vaughan Williams’s Five Mystical Songs in the Usher Hall in 2019.
Andrew McTaggart studied at the RCS then went on through the Opera School where he won the Governors’ Recital Prize. Immediately after his studies, Andrew was the Emerging Artist for two years with Scottish Opera.
With a love for Music Education Andrew ran Little Larks, a company devised to bridge social gaps through inclusive music experiences, whilst he was studying. Andrew now spends his time teaching at Scottish Opera as a Baritone in shows but also as a coach, writer and facilitator. Recently, Andrew wrote an Opera with Jessica Leary and Graham McCusker called Sophie and Bear which received its premier with the company in Summer 2024.
Currently, Andrew is the musical director of Ayr Choral Union and Wordsworth Singers, a Regional Choir Director of National Youth Choirs of Scotland, Chorus Master for Sir James MacMillan’s Cumnock Tryst Festival Chorus and guest conductor of National Youth Choir of Great Britain.
