Annie Obermeyer

MA Acting Classical and Contemporary Text
Class of 2026

About

Annie Obermeyer is delighted to join this production of The Tragedie of Macbeth. She has spent the past two years honing her voice: apprenticing one-on-one with renowned Peter Coyote for narration, and training with globally celebrated Raz Kennedy for singing.

Prior to establishing herself in the arts, she opened her own private chef business in her early 20s. Subsequently, she has been lucky to work at New York’s Public Theater, True Colors Theater, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, American Conservatory Theater, and the National Playwrights Conference at The Eugene O’Neill Theater. She attended Oberlin College and has also trained at the National Theatre Institute and the Saint Petersburg Theatre Arts Academy. She has taught acting at Oberlin College, The Bay School of San Francisco and continues to teach at Berkeley Repertory School of Theatre. Annie met her root Zen teacher at age 14. The experience of studying Zen Buddhism and living monastically from such a young age infuses her work and practice.

This October, Annie will appear in a short film planned to be developed into a full-length feature written by acclaimed English screen writer, Clare L.E. Foster. She is currently developing an adaption of Romeo and Juliet with Gregory Keller, a director for The Metropolitan Opera for close to 30 years. She will be playing, (and singing!) Juliet.
