Dhakshini Jeganathan
MA Production (Design) Class
Bio:
Dhakshini Jeganathan is a self-taught multidisciplinary visual artist, designer songwriter, and poet, who works on immersive and interactive moving artworks and designs. Her practice bridges visual art and music, with a focus on inclusivity and reaching wider audiences through unconventional spaces.
She has exhibited her artworks widely across Malaysia, Thailand, and India, and has won art awards and recognitions from the National Art Gallery of Malaysia, Penang State Art Gallery, and Amari Spice Hotel, Penang.
In Glasgow, her immersive, interdisciplinary music concert Song Story, where she wrote, composed and sang 14 songs, brought together visual art, shadow puppetry, and a band of 12 musicians, marking a dream interdisciplinary collaboration between RCS students from different disciplines.
Drawing on her Malaysian and Indian heritage, Dhakshini weaves visual art, music, and storytelling with a strong emphasis on emotional depth. She created a musical band, Lullaby Friends, with fellow musicians, and continues to develop new performances.
She also collaborated with a multidisciplinary musician and composer on Wade into the quiet stream, a project that explored belonging and the memory of home through the metaphor of a river.
