Lauren Brown

MA Production (Design) Class of 2026

Bio:

Lauren Brown is an MFA Set and Costume Design student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has an undergraduate degree from Baylor University in Theatre Design and Technology and in Interior Design. She has worked as a costume designer and in theatre tech for eight years.

She has worked as a costume designer, costume craft supervisor, draper, and wardrobe supervisor. She has worked with the Watering Hole Collective and at Baylor University and has been on a variety of film sets.

Lauren loves Shakespeare and historical costume but also enjoys exploring more avant-garde and modern work. She loves to explore the unconscious elements of storytelling, like colour and shape, that mould the audience’s perspective before they even think about it. She also cares deeply about sustainable design and about ensuring we are thinking about our lasting impact not just on the planet but on ourselves.

Design impacts us in so many ways; evaluating that impact and seeing if there are ways to improve it should be a critical part of our work.
