Lucien MacDougall
Lucien has worked as an actor, deviser, movement tutor, director and movement director before joining the RCS as a Lecturer in Movement in 2009 on the BA Acting Programme. He teaches movement, modules and co-ordinates New Work as well as giving workshops to other programmes.
Born in Glasgow, Lucien trained as an actor at Guildford School of Acting and then under Jacques Lecoq at L’École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. He also studied at the school’s scenography department Laboratoire d’Etude du Movement (L.E.M).

He has acted in theatre all over UK and toured internationally in New York, Beijing, Sao Paolo, Melbourne, Berlin amongst many other cities.
Lucien has worked over many years with Benedicte Seierup and written and devised four plays together, their favourite being The Nose (After Gogol).
Movement Directing work with Dominic Hill at the Citizens Theatre Glasgow includes: A Christmas Carol (2014 & 2018), Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty, Crime and Punishment & Pinocchio.
He continues to research movement for acting and creativity and has written about movement in varied contexts: nature, movement analysis, Mo-cap performance, physicality in voice acting for games and ensemble work. He has worked regularly with Manifesto Poetico and their research for new theatrical languages.
