Mark Stevenson
Mark Stevenson works as a lecturer in acting and directs several programmes at RCS, including the BA Performance in BSL and English programme. He is a graduate of both the University of Oxford and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RSAMD as was!). He has worked as an actor across Scotland as well as internationally.
Mark directed RCS productions such as The House That Mannon Built (an adaptation of Mourning Becomes Elektra), They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?, Middletown, August: Osage County, Antigone, Beautiful Thing, Scavengers and a bilingual production in BSL and English of Linda McLean’s Glory on Earth.
With colleague Katya Kamotskaia, he has adapted and co-directed several Russian classics: The Sunbeam (a version of Ostrovsky’s The Storm), The Cherry Orchard, The Seagull, Vassa, Crime and Punishment and Feast in Time of Plague, the last two both won awards at VGIK International Student Theatre Festival, Moscow. They have also written about Stanislavski in the recent Routledge companion.
With Hugh Hodgart, he was assistant director on Victory and directed Eight by Ella Hickson for New Up North Scotland Theatre Co., both performed at Tron Theatre.
