Megan Borhofen

BA Modern Ballet

Class of 2026

About

Originally from Texas, Megan Borhofen knew she wanted to begin dancing after watching a performance of The Nutcracker at Houston Ballet. She has felt since she was little that ballet was a love given to her by Jesus, and she wants to praise Him with it, to share that love, and inspire joy in the hearts of others. As a result she joined her first ballet class at the age of 11 and began her professional training at the age of 14 with Texas Ballet Theater School. Whilst there she studied Classical Ballet, Graham Technique, Jazz, and Contemporary. She was part of the TBTS Ensemble, touring around the Dallas area, where she performed as Kathi in La Vivandiere, and the Autumn Fairy in Cinderella.
In 2023 Megan moved to Phoenix to train with Ballet Arizona where in addition to Ballet she studied Flamenco and Horton Technique. Additionally, she was able to perform in Alvin Ailey’s Revelations (Principal), Raymonda (soloist, corps), Serenade (Soloist), Paquita (corps) and Bournonville’s Conservatoire.

Following her time in Arizona Megan was accepted into the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Modern Ballet Course in association with Scottish Ballet. Megan has had many amazing opportunities whilst at RCS, including working directly with Christopher Bruce on one of his most remarkable pieces, Ghost Dances. She has performed as the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, and has danced principal, soloist, and corps de ballet roles in new works by choreographers such as Jessica Fyfe (Scottish Ballet), Kia Smith (South Chicago Dance Theater), and Deborah Norris (Ballet Folk). During mixed rep shows she has performed variations from Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Jewels, The Dying Swan, and Arenal. Additionally, Megan herself has created and premiered many original works of choreography in collaboration with different composers and musicians which have been performed at festivals within the Conservatoire. Finally, Megan also works as an assistant teacher with Scottish Ballet Associates, a job she finds most rewarding.
Megan is looking forward to the many new adventures she shall set out upon after graduation. Yet no matter where she goes she wants to continue learning from each new person and experience, making the most of every opportunity, sharing her passion with others, and following the Lord with all her heart.
