Ros Maddison

Head of Production

Ros has been leading the Conservatoire’s production programmes since 2002, before which she taught Stage Management.

Having trained at RSAMD (now RCS) in the 1980s, Ros’s professional theatre career started at TAG Theatre Company, then part of the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow, where she spent four years working through the stage management ranks, culminating in the role of Company Stage Manager for a British Council tour of A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess.

She then worked extensively throughout Scotland as a freelance Stage and Production Manager including projects with Dundee Rep Theatre, Tron Theatre, boilerhouse, NVA, PACE Theatre Company, SYT and many others, working particularly on medium-scale touring shows, site-specific projects and large-scale community productions.

Ros received an honorary fellowship from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2012 and an MEd in Learning and Teaching in the Arts in 2022. As well as being Head of Production and leading the production degrees for the RCS, Ros is currently the External Examiner for the BA Production Arts at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, having previously held similar positions at The Lir in Dublin, RADA in London, RWCMD in Cardiff, LASALLE in Singapore and HKAPA in Hong Kong, amongst others.
