Sarah Skerritt

Junior Conservatoire Lecturer, Practical Musicianship

Sarah is currently a Teacher of Music with East Renfrewshire Council, Musicianship Tutor with RSNO and Lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Primary Instrumental Programme and Pre Junior Musicianship).

Sarah graduated with BMus (Hons) from the DIT Conservatory of Music in Vocal Pedagogy.

Her choral experience began at the age of nine with Galway Choral Association. It was throughout this period that she fostered a love for choral music. In 2012, she was invited to join the internationally acclaimed choir New Dublin Voices under the direction of Bernie Sherlock.

As soloist, Sarah’s repertoire includes works such as Kodály’s Missa Brevis, Pergolesi’s Magnificat and Stabat Mater, Handel’s Messiah and Fauré’s Requiem. As soloist with Culwick Choral Society, she performed Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Mendelssohn’s Walpurgisnacht.

In September 2014, she relocated to Hungary to attend the Kodály Institute, Kecskemét. There, she received a diploma in Advanced Choral Conducting (Highest Honours). In 2016, she completed her MA (Kodály Music Pedagogy) and graduated with distinction. One of the highlights of her career, was joining the Tenso Europe Chamber Choir in 2015.

A recipient of the esteemed Bacon-Erdei Scholarship, Sarah was invited to conduct educational research in Budapest in 2016. In 2017, she completed her PDGE at Strathclyde University (Secondary Music).

In Glasgow, she featured with Hutchesons’ Choral Society and Paisley Philharmonic Choir as Musical Director.

Currently, she is a Teacher of Music with East Renfrewshire Council, Musicianship Tutor with RSNO and Lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Primary Instrumental Programme and Pre Junior Musicianship).
